Author Topic: Export Base Color in Linear Format  (Read 223 times)

Unreal Engine expects base color maps to be in linear format when using udims (virtual texture streaming turned on). It's a real pain to convert after export.

Export yours textures at 8bits instead of 16bits, that should fix the gamma issues. BaseColor is always expected to be sRGB in Unreal, but 16bits image are not always imported properly.
Don't forget your log file. It can be exported from the Help menu of the software.

Thanks for getting back to me on this! So its not an option then you're saying. SP adding support for UDIMS was a fantastic update which made it a viable option over Mari in the Film / TV sector. A lot of these studios also adopt strict linear workflows, where a color map would have to be post-processed into linear format. The ability to directly export in linear format would be a welcome feature IMO.
