Hi,

You can go to Edit>Projection Configuration and select the new mesh. You can change the topology and UVs. This will recompute the channels to match the new mesh, so if you have changed the UV layout, it will recompute to match the new layout. However, you need to be sure that you don't change the material names. You need to keep the same materials i.e. don't add new or remove. If you change the materials, there is currently not a method for reassigning the texture sets to the materials.
