Author Topic: Modo Renderer or SBSAR conversion issue?  (Read 402 times)

I tried searching for a thread that covered my issue, but either no one else has come across this or I was searching with the wrong terms. Referring to my attachment below, what is going on here? No matter what I do with the Substance Material, only the Advanced Viewport updates and displays properly.

Is it a render setting? Substance setting? What do I need to do in order to fix it?

I'm not sure how others have gotten the Substance plugin's generated textures to work properly, but for me I ended up having to do the following:
    1. Create Modo material (principled)
    2. Assign Substance material
    3. Import .SBSAR file
    4. Specify output size (2048x2048)
    5. Select needed maps (Diffuse, Normal, Metallic, Displacement, Roughness)
    6. Save all image maps as separate files: Right Click > Save As > TARGA (.TGA)
    7. Delete Substance material / generated texture maps
    8. Import newly saved texture maps and assign to proper channels
    9. All image maps can be left to default settings, except for the following:
        • Displacement Image Map: Low Value = -100%, High Value = 100%
        • Roughness Image Map: Invert
If anyone can make the Substance Plugin behave properly with the Modo / Octane Renderer without having to do the above steps, please be sure to share :)

It's not just with Octane that there is trouble.
The whole thing is pretty much unusable in MODO for more than a year now.
I really hope they will get a grip on that issue....
