Author Topic: Alchemist custom leaf material scattering  (Read 486 times)

Hello everyone,

I'm new to Alchemist and am testing around to see what I can do with it.

I was wondering how I can scatter some leaves on my ground material.
So, as a test, I photographed a leaf, cut out the background and just threw it in alchemist to see what comes out.
I then tried to use this material to scatter leaves on my ground material, but everything just changes to a silver color and the leaf height/normal/displacement information gets lost (the leaves become flat and barely visible). I also tried using multiple atlases out of the library but to no avail. So I'm sure I'm doing something wrong.

Here are some pictures of what it looks like:

Any ideas what I'm doing wrong?

Hello,
Can you send a screenshot of the height and the opacity maps of your leaf material, please?

Thanks

Hello,

I tested it with both my own leaf material as well as one from the library. For some reason on both materials, the opacity map is completely white... How can I influence the opacity and in general any maps in Alchemist? I have literally less than 5 hours of experience with the software so I apologize in advance.

Your leaf opacity looks good but your height doesn't seem correct.
Is it possible to send me the sbsar file or all the maps of your leaf material so that I can test it here?

When the material has no opacity, we generate a white opacity map per default. When you scattered a leaf on a ground material, it's expected to get a white opacity map.

I've sent you a personal message with the link to the files.

Thanks

Hi,

As of now, the Atlas Scatter layer works only in PBR Metallic/Roughness. If you need your result in Specular/Glossiness, you can create a project in Metal/Roughness, do all the work and when you export, you select the export preset "PBR Spec/Gloss from Metal/Rough" to convert your materials.

If you have any questions, please let me know.

Sounds like a plan! Thank you for your time and help, I really appreciate it.
