Author Topic: Maya 2020, Vray and Substance not working?  (Read 1051 times)

Is there any tutorial on how to work substance?

I've loaded in the sbsar to a substance node, the UI has filled out all the parameters in Maya's Attribute Editor.
But apart from that, Substance doesn't actually seem to do anything else?

Create Shader Network =
# Warning: Substance Workflow - Output emissive not found #
// Error: line 1: RuntimeError: file <string> line 2: Maya command error //

Clicking on Diffuse, Base Color etc... doesn't work

It's a mystery for new users on how to use this node.

Hi,

same problem with Maya 2019 and VrayNext:

Here is the solution from this forum not Allegorytmic [/u]  >:(

I still don't know what is causing the problem, but I (with the help of a programming colleague) was able to find a quick fix:

In this file : "C:\Program Files\Allegorithmic\Substance in Maya\2019\plug-ins\substance\maya\core\hypershade.py" simply comment out the variable "$res" causing the issue by "//" like this:

def acquire_hypershade():
    """ Gets the hypershade object from Maya, returned as a string """
    return maya.mel.eval('global string $gHypershadeNodeEditor;'
                         '//string $res = $gHypershadeNodeEditor;')

We'll look at having this fixed for the next release.

Hello, I am having the same issue.

I am using Maya 2020, Vray and when I apply the sbsar files it says emissive not found, bump maps are looking too high even some of the textures not looking as they should.

Can you let me/us know when this will be rectified as I need the textures as soon as?

KR

The emissive not found is just an information message, as the sbsar used has no emissive while the workflow supports it. The actual issue they had is completely different.

You can edit the bump map parameters and generate your own workflow.

What does textures not looking as they should mean? We will need more information, screenshots, plugin version, Maya version, etc.

All okay here sorry, my mesh for the object was super small so textures looked off,

Thank you for your help.

No problem, I'm glad you got it figured out.
