Author Topic: Too many polys to bake in SP. Is there a limit?  (Read 175 times)

Hi there,
It looks like Painter is incapable of baking very high poly meshes (used for baking) that are more than 5 million polys. Is there a maximum poly limit for high poly models or has something in Painter changed in recent versions? I didn't seem to have this problem in Painter 2 (now using Painter 2019)

edit: I should mention that i'm exporting the highpoly mesh from Zbrush.

Never had this issue personally.

What does that mean? What happens if you try to bake a higher resolution mesh?

There is no poly count limit in Painter that I am aware of. There is a limit of course to what specific hardware/ system/GPU memory can handle, you should probably post details about your systems hardware.

There shouldn't be any limit, 5M polys would even actually work fine in the viewport to paint on directly.
What happens when you try to bake?

Just had this problem, but worked to up the cache limit, for me atleast
