Author Topic: Issues with curvature map  (Read 3780 times)

I am having an issue with my curvature map. The normal map looks ok. The geometry on the cylinder has only one smoothing group and looks ok in max. Is there any way to correct this? Modifying the curvature settings in the bake dialog didn't seem to do much.

Can you try the "per vertex" setting instead for the algorithm ?
Don't forget your log file. It can be exported from the Help menu of the software.

I did, there was no appreciable difference.

Could you share the mesh ?
I just want to verify if it's a limitation of the baker or not.

It doesn't appear to be. I found a script creating face weighted normals here: http://www.scriptspot.com/3ds-max/scripts/improved-face-weighted-normals. Seems to have addressed the issue largely, but I still had to adjust the curvature settings. I found that I got the best results using the Per Pixel algorithm and a decreased Details setting.
