Author Topic: How can i bake texture from one object by another?  (Read 173 times)

Hello.
how can i bake texture from one object by another. Not a bake from highpoly to lowpoly.
Example: i have model in LOD0 with texture, and LOD1 without texture.
I need bring texture from LOD0 to LOD1. In 3Dmax preset this function. Substance painter can do it?

No. You need an external application like Marmoset Toolbag to do that.

thanks

Painter doesn't but I believe Designer has a baker called Transfer Texture from Mesh, which might be suitable for your needs.
It's definitely available in the Substance Automation Toolkit's sbsbaker as well.

Would be a great feature to have.
Its really missing in painter.

Usually nobody do separate texture set for lods.  They would rather use same texture your did for the first lod. There is a number of uv and vertex normals tricks that could make textures less distorted on other lods and most of auto lod generating tools also try to keep UV.

Wonder if somebody really bake separate set of textures for each lod?

Yes we do cause we have totally different UVs for different versions of our assets.
And we often bake from our highres cinematic assets.
