Author Topic: pixel processor: atan2 function?  (Read 3188 times)

Hi!

I don't see the function atan2.  It's something I have in houdini and I've also seen somebody on this forum talk about it for Designer. Could it be that it's not in my 5.6.2 version?

It just so happens I still have an install of 5.6.2. It does have the node, but you have to (partially-) write out "arc tangent 2" instead of atan2 for it to show up.

Ah thanks!!

Also, after using it, I get values that seams to clamp from 0 - 1.   ...??

As far as I can tell it works correctly. Inside the function graph with inputs in the range of [-1,1] I can get outputs in range of [-pi,pi].

The image itself is clamped however, so to directly visualize that range you have to transform it to [0,1] (Add pi, than divide by 2pi)

or change the output format to one of the HDRs to have the node output values outside of the 0-1 range

32bit HDR values was not supported in 5.6, so you can only "see" values in the [0, 1] range.
