Author Topic: Normalmap Problem  (Read 3499 times)

Hello

As the Topic says, i have a ugly normamap problem. And i have no idea why.
Any help would be nice.

My normals of an object in 3d Coat.

You see, the lines are straight

Now in Blender.

The lines are still straight.

Now in Substance Designer.

The lines are still straight.

Now in Substance Painter

The liner are now disortet.

Why gets the normals disortet in that way?
Are there any differences in the calculation between Designer and Painter?
Any help would be nice.

From the looks of things, it seems your mesh has quads or ngons, and Painter is triangulating it in a way which is different from 3d coat. You will probably need to triangulate your mesh in Blender before importing it in Painter.

Thanks a lot.
I know N-Gons are not supportet, but Quads are new to me.

Hi,

Substance Painter triangulates the mesh on import. It's best to triangulate your mesh prior to import to make sure that the order doesn't change.
