Author Topic: Weird black shadows in viewport  (Read 490 times)

Painter shows these weird, black  patches in the viewport. Seems to be something off with the shading, as they look like shadows, but way to sharp.

I tried adding a png to this post but got an error saying it had to be in the png format (bug), so here is a Google Drive link to the screenshot instead: https://drive.google.com/file/d/1CWXMpzkvQb9c-PXZIZTh-Pr4mXlZM9Z4/view?usp=sharing. Does anyone have any idea about what's going on?

I see you are on linux too, does your problem look anything like mine?

(though your hardware is considerably older and you are using a nVidia card with the proprietary drivers, which didn't give me a problem iirc on my gtx 1070)

It looks just the same. I'm using a Vega 64, so if it says something else in the log, then that's wrong.

Edit: I see you posted your thread recently, so I suspect it has something to do with the Vega drivers. I don't remember for sure if it started before I switched my card, but I think so.

From your log file, your GPU is below our minimum requirements : https://docs.substance3d.com/spdoc/technical-requirements-172824034.html
Don't forget your log file. It can be exported from the Help menu of the software.

I see now in my logfile that it says I have a GeForce GTX 550 ti. This is wrong, and was wrong when I outputted the log from Painter. I'm running an AMD Radion Vega 64. Is that card really below the requirements?

Also, just to be clear (because I have been in contact with support and gotten the same feedback) I know I have that card, because I installed it myself.

We are handling this issue via Zendesk as well, so I suggest continuing the to answer over there if you still have the issue.
