Author Topic: How to create a material that looks "layered" and has depth?  (Read 105 times)

Hello I'm a beginner and am trying to recreate some textures from my favorite games.
I am trying to recreate the texture here shown in rocket league:


However, I am having trouble getting it to look right. This is what I have manged to do on my own:



The the metal in the reference image looks like it is made of two seperate pieces overlaying another with some space inbetween How would I get that same effect in Substance Designer?

TBH, if I was doing that, I'd have the grille and backplate as two separate objects, there's a physical gap there.

You don't think there is a way to fake it?
