Author Topic: How to distinguish between a DirectX and a OpenGL normal map?  (Read 583 times)

Is it possible to detect if a normal map was exported for OpenGL or DirectX just by the map alone?

Many thanks

Depends if you know what you expect is raised within the texture. One will appear as if the raised bits are indented, this is the DirectX, the OpenGL looks like you would expect.

But there is not any parameter embedded in the file right, (like the resolution)? One can only guess by looking correct? :)

Yep, as far as I am aware. :-)

I see, thanks :)
