Author Topic: Substance Source Material  (Read 1470 times)

Ok let's try this question:

On the 3D preview of Italian Fieldstone there is a button called Shuffle but when I load the material in SP there is no Colour Parameters so I have to ask why the Shuffle button?

So I tried using the Invert Filter which worked but then noticed all the maps were inverted. I solved it by adding a duplicate without the invert filter and just used it for Norm and Rough, whilst the original for Colour only.

But I must say I am a little peeved with the lack of response for my qs lately. That is what these forums are for aren't they or should I bombard CS with direct emails?

I like Daz3D's approach to forums with having people who know their product helping out. They are called Community Volunteers and I used to be one many years ago, before I got too busy.

Yes a lot of SP can be learnt from online Tutorials but after watching many I find I am still lacking understanding of certain aspects hence me asking here, for what is worth. But I am starting to get the hang of SP and having years of Photoshop experience I find the layers system to be a perfect fit. I really can't moan about the software though.

Just wish we had a Colour Swatch saver and be able to copy and paste Filters from one layer to another. :)

Well for someone to answer I would assume we need the material to see why it's there. I don't have it so I cannot answer that question. Plus, no screen shots were provided showing what you mean.

I teach people how to use Substance Painter. :)

so you don't have access to Substance Source then and are you Staff or just a user as my comments were aimed at staff but thx anyway.

PS that link is for SD and I asked in SP section. So I can only infer that the Shuffle button shown on the S Source website in 3D preview is only for SD.

I have zero affiliation with Allegorithmic. If you have a problem with their 'Staff' not responding to your threads then you need to take up that concern through their contact form or via email.

I have access to Substance Source, but I'm not using my credits to trouble shoot problems. I linked SD because those materials would've been made in SD, so whatever options you see would be related to what they had in SD before exporting. If you can understand why that feature would be used in SD for materials, then I would assume you would get an answer.

Yeah I will take your advice on the first point, thx.

As for the second if you read my opening q properly you would have seen I was referring to what I see on S Source and there was no need for anyone to DL that material. I was simply asking why there is a Shuffle button when viewing that mat in 3D preview on the web page itself, hence no screenshots, and why there is shuffle button and no colour parameters in the mat when viewed in SP.

So the succinct answer would have been that it was for SD and not SP.

I do appreciate you trying to help I am just a little peeved that no staff is on hand to answer, (and I see a lot of posts don't even get a response) and that you came out all guns blazing in defence mode. If I thought it warranted screenshots I would have provided them. As I said I know how to help people, been doing it for years on other forums so I know what should be provided to get help, sorry for any misunderstandings.

So let's forget this and move on, Again I do appreciate you responding though.

Well I took this mat into SD and for the life of me couldn't find the Shuffle function so my original q was valid. :) I did manage to mess about with the colours and save a new SP mat out so there is that.

The "Shuffle" I know of is the node as I listed in the link before.

Where are you seeing "Shuffle" in Substance Painter? Can you post a screen shot? I loaded the material into Painter and cannot find what you're talking about.

I looked through all the parameters and cannot find "Shuffle".

I'm assuming any "Shuffle" in the 3D preview on Substance Source is just to randomize the values as per above. But I still don't see anything saying "Shuffle".

I am truly sorry that you had to use one of your credits. I know it was there last week when I viewed the mat on the webpage and DLed it as I thought the Yellow on Brown looked better. I am at a loss to what happened and now I doubt myself. I just looked through the other rock mats and it wasn't any of those.

Can you get a credit on that substance because I never wanted anyone to have to dl it for me.
