Author Topic: Baking errors on file with baked maps  (Read 1221 times)

Howdy,

I have a file which has some old maps baked from older versions of low/high.

When I bake with new versions of low/high files, I get this problem:

However, if I start a new project the bakes are clean as a whistle using the exact same files:

I've made sure I have used the default settings in both cases.
Slow is smooth and smooth is fast

When you look at your baked map, which mesh map display the artifacts ?
Don't forget your log file. It can be exported from the Help menu of the software.

All of them:

Slow is smooth and smooth is fast

Usually this kind of artifacts come from a misaligned mesh, either the high-poly is shifted away or the low-poly, which result in gradients like this in the normal map.

If it's working in a new project but not in the current one, this could be related to different settings. I know you said the opposite, but can you just check again you didn't disable the "relative to bounding box" setting ? This could affect quite a bit the baking result.
