Author Topic: Ambient Occlusion Black Artifacts  (Read 2015 times)

Hi everyone,

When I bake HIGH poly mesh on low poly, everything bakes good except ambient occlusion.
Can someone explain what is the problem?
On the pictures below, you can see the problem. Normal Map is perfectly fine, only AO map makes issues.

Looks like your occluder distance is too low/high, so the occluder mesh is clipping into itself.

Thickness map was also bad.
But I increased distance like you said and both AO and Thickness maps are good.
