Author Topic: Update broke Painter  (Read 2289 times)

I was excited to see the new update to painter so I downloaded and installed. All seemed to go well, except that now when I start a new project and open a new file I'm greeted with a totally black viewer screen. The app has loaded properly, I can see all materials, layers,etc, but the meshes are not visible. The viewer windows remain black.

Help....

System is MacPro
OSX Sierra

Thank you, as stated in this thread and multiple others, as well as in the minimal specs page for Substance Painter, custom GPUs or eGPUs are not officially supported on MacOS.
It seems like you were one of the lucky ones for whom Painter was still working on this type of configuration but I would then advise staying on the version that works for you until we officially support custom Nvidia GPUs on Mac.

I disagree.. even cpu rendering on official mac laptop with official amd card also fracks up on materials... this has been an issue only in painter.. its prolly a bug on your end or we would be seeing this across the board if it were drivers only.

i loaded this for example and its pink.. lol
However iray rendering seems fine though.. its just been an ongoing bug with material display only.

Oh.. forgot to mention.. if i start something from scratch it works better i think.. is it an incompatibility with older tutorial files perhaps?

I toolks like you may be using a very old shader. In the shader properties windows, you'll likely see your shader tagged as Outdated. Select the shader again in the list to update it. The pink should disappear.
