Author Topic: any variable tutorial in substance designer ?  (Read 690 times)

i want to create animated texture for unreal engine flip book. i have 0 knowledge on programing and i need to use that $time variable to create animated texture.

there are no good youtube tutorial there.

I successfully used the $TIME variable.

What sort of "animation" are you looking for?

Meanwhile, my suggestion is:
First create a texture with a user-input that you can change (you should be able to find video tutorials for that).
After you get that working, then replace the user-input with the $TIME variable.
The time is in seconds, so when developing it, you can input "3" to see what it will look like at 3-seconds.

what is user input ?

By "user input" I meant "exposed parameters."

Hold on a moment... I'll look for something that might help.

To be honest, and I'm only guessing, I am concerned that you are trying to run before you learn to walk (or crawl).  You mentioned you are not a programmer, but have you made many Substances yet, or are you a total Substance noob?  Nothing wrong with being a beginner, just wanting to know where you're at.

ADDED about two minutes later...

Here is an Allegorithmic video about Exposing Parameters:  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Uj1vkgxGNDI

A YouTube search for "substance designer expose parameters" will find a lot of videos on that subject for you.
