Author Topic: Additional Maps Baking Issues (AO & Thickness)  (Read 2359 times)

Hi,
I was using Substance Painter to paint my character. After I baked the additional maps, there are some unwanted problems happened on the AO and Thickness map.

I did try adjusting the Baking setting (ex: Frontal & Rear Distance) and I had the high/ low poly mesh named correctly, but the problem is still there.

I would appreciate any help and advice. Thanks!

That's an expected error.  Geo too close to each other to get clean results.  You'll have to:

-repose your source and target meshes to an "A" or "T" pose and rebake.

-Keep the pose but separate the arm from the shoulder uv and material-wise, so you can apply separate material layers and do mesh by name bakes (one for the arm, one for the rest of the body).

-Or manually paint over the errors in Painter, which would be the easiest fix.

Hey, henrik_1

Yeah, it makes sense cause it didn't happened to my other T-Posed characters.
I will try painting over the maps first and see how it goes.

Thank you so much for the advice. It's really helpful!

You can also try to un-check the "ignore backface" in the baker advanced parameters.
Don't forget your log file. It can be exported from the Help menu of the software.
