Author Topic: Substance Plugin 4.3.0.0 Released  (Read 6926 times)

The plugin is now available from our website:
http://www.allegorithmic.com/substance-ue4

This version is compatible with 4.3. Just extract to your Unreal project directory and enjoy!

You should plaster this all over your main page, this is huge news!!!  8)

I have been waiting for this day since I bought my Indie Pack in late march. Although the wait for this was spent learning the tools, so in my case it works out perfectly.

Thank you and your team for all your hard work getting this integrated!

Any reason why they did not include this as a standard plugin for the 4.3 release?
maybe next version?

I see they listed you guys in the credits.

Seems they made the changes required to the engine so we can just add this plugin instead of re-compiling the code, which is good news.

Thank you Allego for the very fast publishing of the plugin for the 4.3 version, look like you make extra hour yesterday, just for our best pleasure =)

Also i experienced an issue if run my game off of the editor.
the error :
http://puu.sh/aeI8M/baedc77293.png
just guess that something is missing to run the none editor version of my game with substance support.

Dabxoom, Allego wish to update the plugins by themself, so no need to wait a new release of the unreal engine, to fix any kind of issues we may encounter in the near future.

i had a try to edit, the substance.upluging file like it has been fixed with previous version
http://puu.sh/afmRr/582b199ddc.png
but when the bShouldBuild is set to 0, the plugins does not appear in the plugins list in my project.
when i remove the two lines of code, the plugins is correctly listed in my project.

I will now, try to install the plugin  not into the Project directory, but into the 4.3/engine/plugins/
It seems that this fixed all the problems, with StandAlone game version, I can do both
a) right click on the MyGame.Uproject and then launch game from here.
b) and i can run the game from the editor in Standalone mode

unfortunately i have a last question,
Do i have to download the plugins source from Github, and recompile the source with my own project, to enable the plugin in in none developer editor mode ? how I do have to proceed if i cook and pack my game and test it out on a neutral computer where unreal engine is not installed ? If you can clarify this point, it would be handfull :)
Thank you again for making all this possible.
Best regards,
Nicolas

Hi fuzzzzzz,

The release right now is just the binaries for the Editor. We are finalizing the standalone build and are just working on resolving a build issue with that. Hope that helps!

Hi Josh, thank you for the note will wait until that, and still have a lot to do within the UEditor :)

fuzzzzzz,

If you return to the UE4 Substance plugin download page: http://www.allegorithmic.com/substance-ue4

The new zip files now have the appropriate content so you can build standalone versions! Let me know if you have any more issues or concerns :)

just to overview my process :
I 'd removed Substance from 4.3/Engines/plugins
and I'd pushed the new content of the plugin in my project/plugins directory then launched  UE 4.3 with my project.
the substance i had imported before are still here and correctly applied on some primitives shapes, just to say that everything is fine, substances parameters are correctly restored, all is working like a charm :)
thank you Josh and the rest of the team  ;D

@allegorithmic: will current substance plugin be in your github repository in the future? Would be nice if we'd still have source code for it, just in case. :)

tokri there is a source folder in the zip file

steve is correct, if we pushed this to github it would just be a fork of UE4.3 with the files available in the zip. We are leaving github available for prior versions of Unreal though.

I was stubborn and extracted it to the engine folder (rather than the project folder), ie. C:\Unreal Engine\4.3\Engine\Plugins\Substance.

Everything's working fine so far. :)

yes if you want it to be enable for every project you create with  4.3 you moight push the plugin into the engine.
but it should now work corectly, if you only need substance plugin for your project.
