Author Topic: Substance Unreal engine 4 very bad result. Very different representation  (Read 2071 times)

I'm transfer this from substance to ue4 and what in the world? totally different representation

I really can't work like this I've used this inside stingray and it was fine this is off geez luck I did a test

I'd be stunned if Painter can't be made to work well with UE4.  There is an entire section of the forum here dedicated to Unreal Engine 4, so you can probably get some great help there.

The shader you use in Painter, the Painter export options, the UE4 import options...  I don't use UE4, but I'm sure there's an answer somewhere.

Good luck.

Well I have it working now to me it's a strange work around and I wonder if it's a error, but whatever. And I may have to revert to 2.16 I see I baked and my normal isn't showing up in a bake: not relational to this issue.

I posted a similar question in discussions. I'm sure it's environment related. I tried using the hdr from substance ,but that didn't do much.

Did you guys followed our setup tutorial ?

yeah, I pretty much followed everything on Substance Painter's side. The unreal link showed a few things I didn't know. I'll try those and see if it looks closer. How did the substance material ball get imported into unreal? I tried to import it ,but it freezes unreal every time and I have to use task manager to close. I'm guessing being a pretty big mesh is why it freezes?

The mesh is not that big, it should be around 30K/50K triangles.

yeah I think it's 50k. I decided to try again and wait it out, lol. Ten minutes in and it still did nothing. I checked on it at 20 minutes and it finally said it imported. It ended taking between 10-20 minutes. I'm use to importing really low stuff and almost instantly importing.
