Painter to Unity weird waved texture.

I tested 5.6,  2017.1 and 2017.2.0 versions of Unity.

Same in Blender

Did you triangulate your mesh before importing it in Painter ? Distortions are expected if not, because there is no guarantee that Unity, Blender and Painter will triangulate your mesh the same way, and therefore map the textures the same way.

HI,

As Cyrille mentioned above, you need to make sure you triangulate the mesh before baking and use the same triangulated mesh in Blender or Unity. Some other causes for the waviness in the map could be as follows.

1. The difference between the high and low is too large, this means that your high is very smooth but your low is very jagged, thus, when the rays are cast out at an angle(because the rays are based on the mesh's averaged normals, they do not shoot straight out) you get these wavy areas.

2. Similar to the above, the normals of the low are too extreme, so your projection is shooting out at a 45 degree angle, and exaggerating the difference.

Thanks for replies!

No, i did not triangulate. Yes, huge difference between high and low meshes.

I will try everything you say.
