Author Topic: no uv map  (Read 3489 times)

i try and import fbx and objects from mudbox and from zbrush to substance painter and no matter what i get error no uv maps .  how to fix

Maybe a silly question, but... Did you unwrap them before exporting to fbx?
Painter does not auto-unwrap, that needs to be done before importing into Painter.

Please do not duplicate threads, your question was answered here: https://forum.allegorithmic.com/index.php/topic,18099.0.html

For a refund, I guess you'd contact them this way:  https://www.allegorithmic.com/contact

Sorry if you felt offended.  For my part, I can only say when a new person comes, we don't know if the person is a total noob or an industry veteran (but new to Painter).  So sometimes it is best to check the basics before looking into more complicated solutions, even at the risk of accidentally insulting an experienced person.  Other than that, it was pointed out that it's poor etiquette to post the same question in multiple places, but you are not the only person to do it and have it pointed out.

Many people here are very willing to help out both noobs and experts.

P.S.
Attaching a log file can be very helpful, especially if your model has already been properly unwrapped prior to exporting the fbx file.

Substance is a texturing application, you can't do anything else with it. What were you planning to do with your model once it was imported into Painter without UVs? Are you talking about the missing PTex support? You didn't mention any such thing.

Talking about 'attitude', seriously...

I purchased this software from reallusion for the serial number that is and i am not happy whatsoever , to get a refund do i contact reallusion ?

D'oh...  from Reallusion.  I glossed right over that the first time.  That complicates things.

If it was part of a bundle which provided things at a discounted price, I suspect you would need to return the entire bundle.  In that case I'd probably as the question of both support teams, and see what sort of answers you get.  I know Reallusion has an excellent reputation for honoring their return/refund policy, but including 3rd-party software may complicate it (not impossible, but maybe a bit more messy).

I've used Painter to do some fix-up on my iClone avatars, in addition to painting props and stuff.  There's a bit of learning curve (which is true for almost everything), but Painter is a great tool.
