Author Topic: substance designer crashing macbook Pro Yosemite 10.10.5 update  (Read 2292 times)

Hi I'm having trouble running getting substance designer to start on my mac book pro running Yosemite 10.10.5

Substance painter and BitMap2Materials work fine..

I've tried what others have suggested, deleting the original key and in the library folder.. re downloading and replacing.

Thank you in Advance I've heard good things from a Gnomon workshop I attended and would really like to learn.

Hi Forcestatus,

Can you give me more details on your crash ?
Do you crash when creating a new substance or it crashes before you can create anything ?

The next time Designer crashes, can you send a crash report please ?
I will receive your callstack and log which will help me to understand why you can't start SD.

There is a know issue with an updater on 2017.1.0
You can't create a substance without crashing if you use custom templates which contain a curve node.
So can you check if you use custom templates ? Open the 'new substance graph' window and check if you have more graphs than those by default.

Hi Celine Dameron,

This crash unfortunately occurs right after the splash screen but before substance designer opens and I'm unable to submit a crash report. All I get is the "substance designer quit unexpectedly" but I notice now that this report is not sent to you guys but to apple.  :'(

I have not had substance designer installed before on this mac... Substance Bitmap2 and substance designer are working just fine though.

Is there anything else I can send through to you that may help?

Here is abit of info about my mac ..

Substance Designer_40BFADB0-88A1-58A2-A10B-02EC2EE80FDB.plist

hope they can help.. I'm gonna try one more time to uninstall and reinstall but maybe try to a different drive??

Hi Forcestatus,

We identified a crash with OS X 10.10. We will ship a hotfix ASAP.
In the meantime, it works fine with OS X 10.11 and 10.12.
