Thanks for the work around, I thought I was losing my mind at first.

So I just noticed if I have both texture sizes set to the same as in the gif mine works. http://i.imgur.com/kDlEikH.gifv

Same problem here... frustrating.

Just ran into this issue while doing a painting demo... had to save my work and try it on a lower setting. For now, I will just paint the details manually.

About to try this now.

CONFIRMED!! I did a new bake at 4K and everything works as expected.

Thanks for the work around. This could have been a big blocker!

Nope... back to our regularly scheduled program :)

I have freezing too but only sometimes, when I changing alphas to paint with mask. It happens almost 50/50%.

This is getting troublesome... I am doing a stream and it is freezing up. I just lowered the texture res a bit so I can have some speed back, and it just stopped working.

I'm having the same issue with 2.6

When will the fix be released?

Same stuff here after 2.6.0 update, Painter is freezing and need to end it from the task manager.  Happening on old scene, production scene.

Same problem here. Glad to be able to confirm that it's a bug by checking the forum. Looking forward to a fix. Will use 2048x2048 workaround or roll back since I will need a 4096 at some point.

Glad to see it's not just us.  Thought for sure it was gonna be one of those esoteric linux things.  Hope to see this patch soon as it is pretty a pretty annoying bug.  The ole kill command has gotten a workout this day.

I had same problem and this works. Make sure Texture settings has same resolution as resolution when baking textures panel.

The 2.6.1 release fixed this issue.
