Author Topic: Animated Materials  (Read 1296 times)

So I made a clock and now i want to animate the hands of the clock to act like a real clock

Can anybody tell me how to do that?

There is a $TIME variable that can be plugged into equations, where "time" is in seconds.  So you could probably rotate the hands based on that variable.

I successfully used it to animate clouds.

However, not every application supports variables like that.

Perhaps the simple solution is the best... can you just animate the hands as separate object in the target application, like you would any other prop?

Can you send me a picture how to do that? I have a Transform 2d node for each hand so id like to animate it through the Rotation angle Option of 2d Transformation node

I thought I had uploaded my "Clouds" to Substance Share, but apparently not.
Here's a short video.  It looks jerky because of the screen capture utility I used.

If you look closely, you can see there are two "layers" of clouds moving at slightly different speeds.

It's been a long time since I figured this out, but I'll attach two screenshots and the .sbs and .sbsar files.  Hopefully that gets you started in the right direction.

To view the animation, export an .sbsar file and you can "Play" it in Substance Viewer.
