Author Topic: File Sizes and Crashes  (Read 1256 times)

Hi everyone,
I recently had some weird issues with Substance Painter.
First of all, the program crashes constantly while painting or disabling layers.
I sent the crash reports, already tried to higher the TDR values and mess around with all kinds of nvidia 3d settings,
since it always shows a huge sudden spike in the 3d and Copy section of the task manager GPU panel.
I have little hope to fix that myself but if someone encountered something similar please let me know.
System Specs:
IntelCore i7-6700K CPU 4.00GHz (8 CPUs), ~4.0GHz
32 GB Ram
NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1060 6GB
3 Monitors connected via 2x Displayport, 1x DVI

And the second thing I noticed was that my file size was suddenly exploding.
It would go up about 200 MB on every save even if I changed nothing.
So I was left with an 11 GB file when I tried to use "Save as" instead of save and suddenly my file size was going down to roughly 2 GB.
Anyone got any idea how that could happen?

Thank you

Hey, I just created a ticket for this.

Alright, thank you. If you need any additional information or logs just let me know :)

I had similar issue during my latest project. I just abandonned and ended up polypainting the high poly instead of painting the baked lowpoly :( My file was 2.5 GB with only a 4200 faces mesh loaded and only one bake done (out of 10 texture sets), nothing more. It crashed twice. And the second time I couldn't even re-open the spp, not even the auto-saves...
