Author Topic: White/Black Mask Glitch?  (Read 6088 times)

I'm not too sure if this is a glitch or just a bug in my GPU but on a rare occasion, I'll add a white mask or a black mask to a smart material and when the grayscale settings, the slider for black to white doesn't appear.  I can try and mess with selecting a different tool and it won't work properly.  I can brush on my mesh with nothing showing up.  If I save, shut down, and restart the software, any strokes I applied all of a sudden appear into existence.  The slider is where it should be and I can go back to work.  It's happened a couple times this month.  I don't know if I can replicate it on the fly.  If I do, I'll try and remember the steps prior and post an update in this thread.

Could you attach your log file ? https://support.allegorithmic.com/documentation/display/SPDOC/Exporting+the+log+file
If you happen to find a way to reproduce the issue easily I'm interested.
Don't forget your log file. It can be exported from the Help menu of the software.

Please let me know if this doesn't work.  Send me a message with an email and I'll attach it there and send it your way.

The link below has the log file that you asked for.  From what I can figure out, the slider disappears after some use of smart materials and black masks.  I'll change my mind on masking something off and want to change it to a different material.  I just re-opened SP2 and the slider is there now.  I'll pay closer attention to it and see if I can't pinpoint when it may disappear.

If you can even record a video of the issue that would help us a lot. :)

You guys are so needy.  It's like you're running a business or something. ;-)  Ha ha

I've hit this bug a few times, never sure what makes the Mask just start working.

Here's a video I have of it in action (after seeing this thread)

http://www.manuptimestudios.com/dev/SPCantMask.mov

As you can see, the Grayscale slider just vanishes from my masks.  After quitting and relaunch they are back (as seen in the video).  I hope this helps.

I can confirm this issue. Indeed I reported this time ago, but then I though it could have been a fail on my side having selected the eraser, instead of the brush (is a random problem, so I could not reproduce it under specific circumstances)... But I happened again, and I'm 100% I have the brush selected, and the grayscale just vanish.

As bruce_4 says, restarting SP solves momentarily the issue.

Regards.

Edit:

At least this time, selecting a texture and removing it, restored the grayscale.
